OPERATIONS AND RESCUE FIRE FIGHTING SERVICE OFFICER

We have a superb opportunity at Barton Aerodrome for an Operations and Rescue Fire Fighting Service Officer
Working on a full time basis, you will be responsible for providing an effective Fire and Rescue Service, whilst also having responsibility for operational support, airfield maintenance and aircraft fuelling, whilst providing an effective and efficient operation and customer friendly service. Previous experience is not essential as full training is provided.

Barton Aerodrome is a busy general aviation airport with a complex traffic environment and are looking for a capable and confident individual who is able to work under a variety of workloads, is flexible, and willing to help us continue to develop and grow our business whilst providing first class service to our customers.
​
The role will require availability to work 7 days per week on a planned rota basis, with additional flexibility to support ad-hoc 'out of hours' cover.
​
Employment is subject to passing medical and in-house training programme during a probationary period.
​

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
​

To provide first response Rescue & Firefighting duties.
-
To co-ordinate and perform administrative duties including recording of fuel sales, and operational duties in accordance with defined procedures within the Aerodrome Manual and related documents.

To carry out operational support duties, aerodrome and airfield maintenance, runway inspections, aircraft marshalling, aircraft fuelling.

To participate in RFFS, fuelling and first aid training where required to maintain own qualifications and to support the training of others.

Observe and maintain the commercial confidentiality and security of the company and its assets.

Respond to directives, carry out instructons and implement procedures as required by the Senior RFFS or Aerodrome Manager.

Carry out authorisations and implement instructions on behalf of the Aerodrome Manager.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Good IT skills including use of MS Office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The holder must;
-
Hold a current UK Driving Licence.

Be capable of training for and obtaining a Low Cat Aerodrome RFFS Certificate.

Be of suitable fitness and medical standard as required by the role. (generally HGV standard)

Have an ability to work well under pressure.

Have an ability to work in a high multitasking environment.

Have an ability to prioritise and organise own workload.

Be a good team player.

Have an ability to train others effectively.

Additional desirable qualifications / experience

Be self-motivated.

Previous experience within an airport operational or Fire Fighting environment.

Aviation qualifications such as a PPL/RTF Licence.

Demonstrate a keen interest in aviation.

OPERATIONS AND FIRE OFFICER
Hours: Annualised 2106 hours, on a shift basis covering a 7 day operation. This role will involve regular weekday and weekend work, along with requirements to work on an ad-hoc basis including evenings to support the operation of the airport.
Term: Permanent following suitable performance within a 6 month probationary period.
Salary: £26,000
Holiday: Annual allowance of 227 hours.
Location: Barton Aerodrome and Manchester Heliport ​
